How To Make Vision Board

Updated: Aug 1, 2023

2023 has everyone thinking bigger. One way to focus your attention on who you are and who you are becoming is to create a vision board.

What Is A Vision Board?

A vision board is a form of inspiration to help you achieve a desired goal. If your goal is to create more conscious dialogue about your journey, then it helps to write your goals and/or look at images. It helps by amplifying your intention and bringing your idea into form. So consider it a form of co-creation.

Do Vision Boards Work?

Well, let me tell you a story. I've made quite a few vision boards. The last one I made was a mini binder. It was a cute mini binder that I just had to have when I went to Target to buy shampoo... You know how that goes. Anyway, I didn't have a real use for it so it sat on my desk for months. One day I started cutting up quotes and images that turned into multiple-page collages that I put in the binder. Each page was a different theme.

Months later I was doing some spring cleaning. I had piles of papers and things from my desk to sort or shred. The next thing I knew I accidentally knocked over a bottle of oil that just so happened to spill on my binder. Initially, I was upset until I went through the binder.

As I was trying to salvage anything I could I burst right into laughter because I saw why I needed to release the book. I manifested every single page in there.

That was two years ago.

I'm making another one this weekend so I decided to write about it.

Embracing The New

If you could live your best life what would you do differently starting now? Would you travel more? Would you go back to school? Would you start a podcast? A meditation group? Finish your yoga certification hours and teach? Or maybe all of the above?

Choose a theme for your vision board. Your vision board can be used for anything i.e personal goals, business goals, family goals, like:

  • Travel- dream vacation or wanderlust

  • Personal/Self-care- how you envision yourself at your best, mindfulness

  • Lifestyle- inspiration, fitness, etc

  • Family or Relationships- how you want to connect through quotes, affirmations, values

  • Business/ Career- aspirations, business vision, financial freedom

As your mindset changes your aspirations will change too. You can update your vision board as you see fit.

Getting Started

If you decide to create a vision board here's what you'll need:

  • Collect images -personal photos, magazines, Pinterest, Canva, web i.e Pexels, Unsplash, etc

  • Surface- large poster board, notebook, mini binder, scrapbooking sheets, magnetic board, cork board, or even a wall or closet door can be an option

  • Glue- any glue will do but I prefer a glue stick because I don't like how the regular glue hardens behind the images; if you're using a wall tape or other adhesive

  • Scissors- craft scissors or any scissors will work

  • Color pencils, markers, whatever you like and want to add do it

  • Embellishments- sentimental objects, tickets, glitter, the sky's the limit

Infuse your vision board with your highest intention. Then place it where you can see it every day i.e. on your desk, on your wall, or under a crystal grid *wink*.

Note: I've had the most success when I focused on one area. And from the one area of focus the others, things I wanted to manifest came together kind of in a sequence. Either way, things will unfold for you in a way that is best for you and where you are at that time in your life.

Reflect & Set Your Intention

I invite you to see your goal. Imagine yourself experiencing the success of your goal.

  • What is the fire in your belly?

  • What area in your life are you ready to fulfill your calling?

  • What experiences do you want to have?

  • What is most important to you right now?

See you as you just completed your goal:

  • How do you feel?

  • What does this look like for you?

When you make a vision board with your purpose at the center of it, it opens the way for other opportunities that you didn't even know to ask for. So go ahead and co-create the experiences your soul is ready for.

You got this.
