Spring Equinox

Updated: Aug 9

March 20, 2023, will mark this year's spring equinox. The equinoxes are specific times of the year when the day and night are of equal lengths. The Spring equinox, also called the vernal equinox is important because it signifies a time of balance as well as new beginnings.

The spring equinox marks the first day of spring according to Western astrology.

Right now, according to the sky, in Vedic Astrology the Sun is in the sign of Pisces. Pisces is the natural sign of the twelfth house. The twelfth house, as a water house, deals with deep emotions. Water can be nurturing and purifying and in this case, it is dissolving what we thought we knew. Since it is ruled by Jupiter you are being encouraged to dissolve or let go of anything that goes against your evolution so you can embrace spiritual truths.

On March 21st, the Moon will join the Sun, making it a [New Moon ] where it will also meet Jupiter and Mercury. The placement of the sun in your chart during this transit will bring more light to that area of life. And due to t

four planets (two luminaries and two planets) being in the same sign there can be deeper levels to your transformation.

New moons are associated with new experiences and new beginnings. However, new things still need time to gain momentum. Just like when a seed first sprouts or a baby is born or an idea is made manifest, the new phase and your success still require effort.

Here are a few ways to harness this fresh burst of energy so you can continue to move forward more intentionally in your new season.

  • Unplug as often as possible from technology and reconnect with seasonal-based nature by grounding (hugging a tree or walking barefoot in grass or sand); aim for a walk daily

  • Do some spring cleaning. Let go of unused things or broken things that are taking up space in your home

  • Do a seasonal detox. As the seasons change and we begin to eat more seasonal based foods a detox can help with the transition so you can reduce or eliminate seasonal allergies and mucus that has built up in the body during the previous season.

  • Add different herbs/teas throughout the day i.e. hibiscus, yarrow, burdock, mullein, and echinacea

  • Try aromatherapy using essential oils like citrus scents such as bergamot or rose, and lavender fragrances due to their light and mood-boosting effects

  • Clean and rearrange your altar if you have one, and smudge yourselves and your home, under the bed and in the closets

  • Take a spiritual bath with sea salt & hyssop or rose petals or use other flowers or herbs that call to you

  • Add chanting, meditation, pranayama, mudras, add rose petals to your bath water; and for best results aim to practice your daily observances in the AM [preferably before sunrise] before you go out into the world.

When you feel your best you align yourself with the energies for success.

Reflect:

  1. What insight are you bringing with you from last month?

  2. What does growth look like for you?

  3. How can you show up more in this new season for yourself? For others?

I invite you to take your area(s) of improvement into meditation and see yourself already being successful at it.

You got this.
