Story Time: Wearing Crystals

My youngest daughter often asks me very random questions. I thought I would share some of the things we discuss occasionally, as long as they're not too personal.

Today, on our walk to her school, she asked, "Can only spiritual people wear crystals?"

Random Questions Are Usually A Set-Up

I asked her... what made you think about that question?

Her: I don't know

Me: Well... anyone can wear crystals, but primarily, people who know they are spiritual choose to wear them.

Her: Ok...

Me: [waiting for more questions]

Me: Do you understand?

Omi: I think so [looks like she is still not clear]

Me: Crystals are little pieces of Earth that we can carry when we need more energy for different reasons. For example, everyone can love, but someone might wear rose quartz to help them access or feel the love they already have inside of them. So, anyone who wants to feel or give love can benefit from wearing a rose quartz crystal. It's just that some people, like Spiritual people, are more willing to try different things, including crystals. Does that make sense?

Omi: Yes! Can I have an amethyst bracelet?

Me: Sure

By this time, we were at her school.

I'm pretty sure she wanted to ask for a bracelet, but I see what she did there.

Do We Choose Our Parents?

She picked me for a reason. She made me meet her at her level of curiosity. Sometimes, she stumps me with her questions, and I must be honest and tell her, "I don't know." Then I have to figure it out because I need answers by then.

It's fascinating to see her curiosity about spirituality. When I was her age, I lacked the language and confidence to ask questions about what I felt but couldn't articulate. Thankfully, she has the support to find the answers she seeks. This is a prime example of being who we needed when we were younger.
